Ryan’s Relics Auctions. Cosmetically in great clean condition for its age. Plugged it in, and little wheel behind the Uher plate continually runs. Not sure how to stop it. Indicator lights come on, Stop, FF, Reverse seem to work fine. Not sure how to test any furniture. May need work to operate. Cabinet measures approx 15″ X 13″ X 6. Got this vintage Uber reel tape recorder and player from I believe the mid 60s or 70s because it says made in West Germany, which is what I believe to be referring to the time Germany was separated because of war from my recollection of world history. Although I’m not sure if it’s from that time era or it just was made on the west side of Germany. I do not have the plug or wire that this machine uses. I’m not entirely sure if I could find the plug that this unit does use, nor do I know what the power plug is called. Regarding the physical condition, it does have major wear and it is probably from either use, storage, or how old this unit is. It has oxidation and paint chipping all over the metal chassis, and there’s major paint chipping and scuffing on the bottom. I do not know how to use or test something like this because it’s something I’ve never seen before. I have not taken it apart or worked on it, just cleaned the outside of it. It does come with its original Uber branded reel tape, unsure if there’s anything on the tape or not. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask me. UHER 4400 Report Stereo Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder + Case, Accessories – WORKS! Includes Power Supply, Cables, Microphone, Tape & Reels, Control Pedal, Carrying Case. This UHER 4400 REPORT STEREO is the first version, with discreet components – NO ICs. It is in beautiful cosmetic condition – see pics for details! The unit does work, with some issues. All of the tape drive functions work properly, but rewind is occasionally a bit sluggish. The unit will record/playback, however recordings are VERY low level when played back. Not sure why this is. Could be the microphone? The power is provided by a 6v wall wart which is connected to the control pedal. Maybe this is a customization, not sure. But the pedal must be depressed for the unit to play or record. Only other thing is I don’t think the built-in speaker works, but external output does. Comes with a hard shell case. The case has some wires and switches in it, and a mic hidden in the handle. I don’t know for sure what these are intended for… Comes with everything shown. This is a used, vintage item. I tested this unit multiple times. The first time I plugged it in, it didn’t do nothing. After a bit of a while I pressed play, and it started playing, then tested the rewind and fast forward and stops. After a bit it stopped working, then started working again, then stopped again. I’m not entirely sure how to use something of this manner and age, as I’m pretty sure this is from the 70s or 80s aka Cold War era as this was made in west Germany. Overall the unit is in physical fine condition, it’s not really damaged apart from the plastic piece is completely separated from wheres it’s supposed to be attached, unsure how to fix it.
