Ampex AX-300 Tape Deck Recorder Reel to Reel Working

This is a very uncommon reel-to-reel tape recorder, made by Hitachi for Ampex. An interesting machine, that is hard to find today. It is in working condition: all three speeds work, FF, Rewind, Play in both directions work, and it plays nicely. The recording function was not checked, but it was by mistake put into its Recording mode and it erased the tape – a great sign. Has some usual dings and scratches, but overall looks very nice. The top panel is very clean, as you can see in the pictures. In terms of obvious defects: the main motor is a bit noisy – you can hear its ramble in the video. Not sure if it is the motor, or the pulley, could be either. The meter cover is cracked. It is all there and the crack is not too visible, however. One switch button is missing. Please watch the video for its operation. As you can see, even the tape counter works. Comes with reel holders, reels are NOT included.
