THE MACHINE IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER AND HAS BEEN CHECKED AND CLEANED BY A TECHNICIAN. The Sony TC-758 was a closed-loop, auto-reverse (record and playback) quarter-track recorder with Sony’s’roto bi-lateral’ head design giving three head functionality in each direction. Ferrite & Ferrite heads were used, other features included three motors, 10½ reel capacity, two speeds (7½ ips and 3¾ ips) and mic/line mixing. Frequency response at 7½ ips was 30Hz – 20khz using standard tape and 30Hz – 25khz with SLH tape. Thanks to a flutter-filtering belt drive on the capstan, wow & flutter was extremely low, being 0.05% at 7½ ips and 0.08% at 3¾ ips. Three – Roto bi-lateral – Erase, record and playback. 3 motor, belt driven system. (3dB) 7½ ips: 30Hz – 20khz (standard tape) 7½ ips: 30Hz – 25khz (SLH tape). 0.05% at 7½ ips, 0.08% at 3¾ ips. Signal to noise ratio. 53 dB – SLH tape, 61 dB FeCr tape (both at 7½ ips). 150 seconds (2400′ tape – 10½ reel). Line: 60mV, 100k Ohms; microphone: 0.2mV, low. Line: 0.435V with control at detent, 0.775V headphones: 35mV, 8 Ohms nominal.
