Up for sale is a Vintage AKAI M-7 Reel to Reel Tape Deck Recorder that has been tested and appears to be working. I got this unit from the original owner who is retired military. He said he bought it brand new at a base in Korea. The item is Japanese though. I asked him if it worked and he said it does but he hadn’t used it in decades. I tested it out as best I could but I really have no experience at all with reel to reels. It plays the tape but I didn’t test the record function, and didn’t connect any speakers. I noticed there is a knob missing for the rewind and fast forward function. Also a missing knob on the lower part. And the plastic window of the lower piece is missing. There’s also some light paint on the case. And the case has a little separation on one part. Also it’s missing one of the rubber pieces to hold the reel on. The tape has some kind of Medical lecture on one side. It’s talking about kidney functions and other medical stuff. Other side of the tape is an old school church sermon listing LOTS of names who they are praying for. Sermon is about dangers of drugs like crack cocaine and other drugs. The fast forward and rewind seem like they might be going out but still work depending on how much tape is on the left or right. If there is a lot of tape on the left side the fast forward worked well. But I noticed they connected several pieces of tape together I’m not sure if it’s too heavy for the motor. Like I mentioned earlier this is my first time using a reel to reel. The instruction manual is included with the unit. Also be advised it’s SUPER heavy like 50+ pounds. If you have any questions send me a message. Thank you for reading all this lol.
