This is a very nice professionally-owned Otari MTR12/4. S/N 190x-; model version MTR-12-II-I. Last examined around December 2020/January 2021, it powers up as originally intended, all cards appear to receive proper voltages. I cannot say for sure that all the small LEDs light. Cosmetically the unit is in very good condition overall. The headstack looks very, very good with minimal wear. The deck plays and records normally as one would expect; FF/RWD is good on the transport, the cue/varispeed/other transport controls also work as one would expect them to. Known issues: I think all VU meter lamps are dead. Happens to every Otari out there from this time period. The Channel 2 source select switch seems dirty: it physically flips into all three positions but appears to need to be massaged into activating input position. The indicator lamp reflects this. Wiggling the switch has worked the last three times we experimented with it. Modifications have been made to the capstan control card and possibly other cards in the cage, but I do not know the extent or the details of these modifications. Note there was no head cover issued on this series of MTR-12 decks. This item has been serviced in the past by Everything Audio in Burbank, CA. Sale comprises just the deck itself. No accessories or manual, no tape flanges, no lock down hubs or adapters included. The accessories are shown in the photographs for demonstrative and informational purposes only. If you are interested in physical specifications for purposes of transport/freighting, the model MTR12 with overbridge assembly was factory spec’d at 45.5″ x 26″ x 23. You could use 210-225 lbs.
