All sixteen channels on this recorder record and playback, however channels 14, 15, and 16 have significant level fluctuations on playback due to head wear. The record head on this recorder needs to be re-lapped due to heavy use and wear. The tape transport on this machine works very well and is smooth and stable. The LED meters on Fostex recorders were notoriously unreliable, and some of the LED meter segments on this recorder do not work. Photo #2 shows the LED’s in input mode on all 16 channels, and photo #3 shows playback (reproduce) with the worn head. No recording tape or reel is included.
