Teac 2340 4-Channel Simul-Sync Reel Stereo Tape Recorder Tested, See Description. I acquired this from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point 2 years ago with the intention of restoring it to mint condition, however, I never did and it’s taking up valuable space. I was told that it hadn’t been out of their climate controlled storage room for at least 20 years. I have tested it to the extent I could without having a tape on hand. I have powered it on and tested the tape wheels and they all move when I selected play, fast forward, and rewind. The meters light up as they should. No other functions could be tested. “UWSP #3674 & UWSP #3986″ are inscribed into the right side of the front; There is what appears to be some glue residue on the far right side of the black panel; The wood sides have areas of scratches/gouges (See Photos). Comes with the original power cord and dust cover. The dust cover has some stains although I believe they could be removed as I rubbed on one and it became lighter. I have not attempted to clean the unit, it is just as I acquired it. Please use the zoom/enlarge feature to see the best possible detail of the photos. WE HAVE UPDATED THE CONDITION DESCRIPTION. AFTER FINDING A REEL FROM AN OLD REEL TO REEL TAPE RECORDER, WE TESTED IT FURTHER WITH THIS TAPE. THE SOUND WAS FAINT, HOWEVER, WE ARE NOT SURE OF THE QUALITY OF THE ORIGINAL RECORDING. THE PLAY, REW, AND FF FUNCTIONS ALL WORK, AS WELL AS THE TAPE SPEED CONTROL. THE METERS DO MOVE TO THE RECORDED VOICE BEING PLAYED. Great care will be taken with the packaging of this unit.
