The unit powers on, works up, light works. Both playback and record work well. Speeds are stable and seem to be accurate. The magic eye works and responds to the recording volume as it should. Rewind and fast forward work well. There is some noise in the controls when you move them but nothing too bad. There is no AC hum. Overall this is a good working recorder, but it is very old so do not expect perfetc performance. Note: the tube amp that is built in has TWO Mullard preamp tubes (12AX7 and 12At7), as well as a pair of 6V6 output tubes, built on a copper chassis: this is 50’s fender deluxe in the making!
