Vintage Tascam 38 1/2 Tape 8-Track Reel to Reel Recorder Reproducer 8-Channel. The item is For Parts/Not Working. “Vintage Tascam 38 1/2″ Tape 8-Track Reel to Reel Recorder. The item is in Over-All Good. Cosmetic and partially-working condition and we were able to test the following. All ports – input / outputs are in good condition. We tested the Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop and Play buttons and as per our test were all working – may need proper adjustments. We tested the tape counter and found it to be working properly, reset and rewind to point. When 8 Track tape with recording on all 8 tracks was played we found tracks 6 & 7 to not be working. We were able to listen back to an 8 Tracks on tape and hear Tracks 1-5 & 8 working. All meters light up and stay lit. We attempted to record into Track 1 with a microphone – meter moved but did not saturate the tape – did not record and when input record buttons pressed did not light. There is a small crack between the pitch control and cue and 2 small scratches top of unit rear. Included are the original Tascam 38 Box and Manuals that came with the unit. We will include a take up reel and a previously used 1/2 tape reel. IF you have any questions please feel free to ask. This Tascam 38 was a friend’s and has recorded a total of only 10 reels in its time. Of course thousands of fast forwards and rewinds and plays and sitting dormant for several years – it is going to need a serious tune-up.
