It DOES power on (as seen in one of the photos). The capstan spins, as do both reels when I lift the tensioner and hit play/REWIND/F. Maintenance stickers on the back show that it was maintained/calibrated as recently as May 31, 2003. I acquired it as part of an estate and it has been in clean storage since 2015. From my research, it’s either mid-to-late 70’s or very early 80’s model of MX5050. I literally found three google results (specifically referencing 2SHTD not 2SHTD2) and all were in a foreign language. It’s definitely RARE and I have never seen another one like it. The faceplates for time counter and cue switch come off fairly easily. They just need to be glued back to stay firmly in place. (1x) OTARI MX5050 2SHTD2.
