Folks if you are looking for a vintage Crown Model CX-824 10″ 3 speed Reel to Reel with TRAC-SYNC Module and Tape Counter plus matching D-40 Amplifier in “Collector Quality Condition here it is. It is very doubtful that you will find a finer Crown CX-824 with these options and in this condition anywhere these days. This system consists of the Model 800 Transport, CX electronics, TC tape counter, TRAC-SYNC module, NAB hubs, Crown case with front and rear covers, even has a remote control that I did not try out for it looks like 1 wire on the connector is loose, 1 10 tape, a take-up reel, plus a matching D-40 amplifier. This reel to reel has been sitting at my Mothers house for 30+ years so I did not know if it was going to function. To my amazement this tape deck not only came on, it records and plays perfectly, in fact the tape playback sounded better to me than the source. Both meters are working and signals are balanced. Controls are working and all lamps operating. Even though this deck is working I would go through it and spray all controls and switches with De-Oxit plus lube as necessary. I performed a quick test and this deck sounds oh so sweet. Fast Forward and Rewind are smooth and lightning quick and electronic brakes work as they should. Sorry I did not test the D-40 power amplifier but we can do that if you wish. Tape counter will need a new belt. The really rare option is the TRAC-SYNC module which lets you use the record head as a playback head so you can make recordings in perfect sync. Like if you are singing then you want to add a drum track, then add a guitar track. You get the picture. It is the same as Teac’s Symul-Sync. I did not test the TRAC-SYNC module.
