The seldom-seen 1/2QXHD edition of the MX5050 series. It may have been used as a logger or monitor recorder in a broadcasting system – stereo audition channels went to one pair of tracks, and stereo program channels to the other. This package includes just the transport and the Cinch-Jones interconnect cabling to the amplifiers, which is seen plugged into its receptacle in one close-up shot. It is not the full system. The channel electronics amplifiers are offered separately (as of May 9, 2020). It’s a project; note condition of pressure roller (disintegrated), idler arms, etc. It powers up, capstan and motor appear to function normally. Heads are gently used; of course you should de-magnetize the heads, align and clean them and the whole tape path thoroughly. The guides show light wear and tape residue. This deck in its present configuration, with rack ears, measures about 19 x 15.75 x 7 deep excluding projections of the fascia (head cover, idlers, etc). It weighs approximately 45 lbs.
