Presented here, after 15 years of meticulous searching and assembly, is the USA edition of the mechanical masterpiece produced by Akai in 1964. Also known as the Akai 345, this was produced by Akai under the Roberts name for sale in the United States. With two 6 on-board speakers, tube pre-amplifier, and amplifier, this phenomenal beast is an all-in-one combination for 4-track playback and recording. Playback speeds are default at 3 3/4 IPS and 7.5 IPS. However, with the provided original 15 IPS adapter, this machine now allows studio-quality playback at 15 IPS (Inches Per Second). Cosmetically, this unit is quite gorgeous with some minor expected wear for being over 55 years old. Our knowledge and experience with this machine is profound and present its beauty above for your enjoyment and careful inspection. Originally this machine was default as a 7″ reel to reel player, but with the original production 10.5″ reel adapter installed, playing any 10.5 reel is now possible (as pictured). This machine is ready for continuous playback for any reel size between 10.5″ to 3″. The pre-amplifier has been fully serviced for the highest quality possible output sound. All heads have been gently and properly cleaned and demagnetized for signal clarity. All motor bearings have been properly lubricated. The external vinyl covering (Which covers the case as shown) has been properly cleaned of dust buildup using a special vinyl cleanser for a beautiful original color restoration. Tube/Valve Complement: (4) 12AD7 , (3) 12AT7 , (2) 12AU7 , (1) 12BH7 , (1) 6X4. Power Output: 8 watts per channel from 12-transistor stereo power amplifier. Controls: Separate bass and treble tone controls; Dual separate microphone and line input controls, 4 simultaneous mixing inputs, playback loudness control track selector and sound-on-sound switch. Rewind time: 36 seconds for 1200 foot reel of tape. VU Meters: Two lighted VU meters (original) are part of the pre-amplifier area. Both fully measure input sound and are always lit up when the unit is powered on. These VU meters typically did not last through the decades due to their fragility. However, we have been able to procure these two working meters to bring this. Machine back to its full potential with original parts. This machine allows auto-repeat of a selected time interval in which the machine will automatically stop and rewind to once again enter playback for certain selections of music. This can continue indefinitely. Included in this sale is the highest quality studio microphone ever made for this machine, the Roberts 3823 Dynamic Studio Cardioid Microphone. This microphone has a heavy weight base and a long brushed chrome design. With a response of 40-15.5K Hertz it has an impedance of 50K Ohms. It is 1.25″ x 10.25″ and has a 20′ detachable cable. This microphone weighs in at 1.4 Lbs. This microphone is in near mint condition and. Comes in its worn original box. The cosmetic and sound design of this is absolutely fantastic.
